Welcome to The Frozen Mop

The Frozen Mop has had many guises since the 18th Century. The myth of where the name ‘Frozen Mop’ came from appears to be from the legend of a cleaner and a cold winter’s night. Who knows the real truth? Does it really matter? What does matter is that The Frozen Mop has become what it was always meant to be, a beautiful English Country pub.

When you visit you will discover warmth, hospitality and smiles. The design has opened the whole pub up; with leather tub chairs, teak oak tables and atmospheric lighting.

For the summer there is a large decking for dining and relaxing out back that we are pretty sure will become one of Cheshire’s most famous pub gardens. A great pub should be an oasis from everyday stresses and strains. It should relax you as soon as you enter.

Whether you are coming for a slow winter pint, a coffee or a gastronomic extravaganza we look forward to seeing you at the Frozen Mop.

To accompany the food, there is a rounded and full-bodied wine list, featuring some of the finest champagnes, reds, whites and pinks. The menu is modern European pub food. There are plenty of homely comfort foods as well as some more refined dishes. From pizzas and risottos, to aged steaks and fresh fish, there is a wide variety for all to choose from.

The most important element of the Frozen Mop are the team, we love our pub and we look forward to seeing you and your friends soon.

Opening Times

We now serve food all day until 10pm Monday to Thursday and until 10.30pm Friday and Saturday. On a Sunday we now open our dining room until 9.30pm.

Additionally, we have extended our pub opening time until 11.30pm midweek. And at the weekend you can now extend your stay with us until 12.30am.
